ICE SCHEDULING / 2026 - 2027
The philosophy for scheduling ice is to be as fair and equitable as possible to each team under the Southwest Hockey Association umbrella.
There are many 'domino effects' when it comes to scheduling ice for 56 teams. Once the game schedule is released from Hockey Calgary, several hours are spent reviewing games and generating practices. This review includes MANY checks and balances to ensure teams within the same age division receive a similar number of hours on the ice, shared vs. full practices, and a similar number of early & late starts - by the end of the season.
Note: Generally the younger age divisions are scheduled on the 'early ice' and the older age divisions are scheduled on the 'late ice'.

RETURN ICE POLICY
Southwest Hockey relies on fully using its contracted ice, so teams are asked to be proactive when they can't use an assigned practice by posting it in OneClickIce and notifying the Ice Scheduler.
Early communication helps the Association reassign ice smoothly and helps prevent avoidable team costs or penalities for unused team practices.

SUBMIT SCHEDULE WINDOWS
This isrequired when a team wants to attend a tournament during the Regular Season, where Hockey Calgary will then not schedule League Game(s) over that same weekend.

SUBMIT BLACKOUTS
Teams must also enter their tournament dates into OCI - called Blackouts - after they have sumitted their Schedule Window with Hockey Calgary.
This is so the team is not scheduled practices with Southwest Hockey.
Managers are to log into OCI and enter the dates and the tournament sanction number.

These are distributed to Managers upon being notified by the Head Coach of who their Manager is. If you did not receive your Manager login, please send an email.

All arena irregularities should be reported to the Ice Schedule so that follow up can be done with the facility.
