WELCOME / OVERVIEW
Hosting a tournament is an exciting opportunity for teams to come together, create a great experience for visiting participants, and showcase the spirit of Southwest Hockey. This page provides teams with information and steps to organize a successful tournament during the Seasonal Break or Post-Season.
Hockey Calgary manages all rules, sanctions, and regulations. Southwest Hockey offers a limited number of tournament ice packages each season and aims to communicate applicable deadlines, facility expectations, and team-level processes involved in hosting.

TOURNAMENT COORDINATOR ROLE
The Tournament Coordinator leads the planning and organization of the tournament(s), with support from the Team Manager for the Hockey Calgary requirements. Hosting a tournament is a team-supported event, and all families are encouraged to assist where possible.
REQUESTING A TOURNAMENT PACKAGE
Team Managers may submit their interest starting October 1 by emailing the Ice Scheduler and be sure to include the following:
- Your name
- Team (eg. U11 Southwest 3 Gold)
- Package Number
Tournament Packages are limited. In the event there is high-interest for particular packages, then a random draw will be done.

TOURNAMENT GUIDE
The Southwest Tournament Guide provides additional details when hosting a tournament, processes and expectations. Teams should review the guide and understand the expectations.

SCHEDULE WINDOW
Hockey Calgary is keeping the “Additional Schedule Window” that was introduced during the 2024-2025 season that will allow U7 to U18 teams to access an additional schedule window, for a fee, during the regular season for a maximum of 2 Schedule Windows.

Hockey Calgary has provided a great 'Quick Step' overview for four (4) different situations when it comes to tournaments.
AGLC REGULATIONS
If your team is planning to fundraise during your tournament, AGLC Rules and Regulations must be followed.
Teams must apply for their OWN gaming license for any fundraising that people pay for a chance to win. For example; Ticket Raffles.
